The Moldovan authorities claim that another fiction has surfaced. It is related to the issue of health insurance. “Attention! New fake news is surfacing to intimidate Moldovans in the diaspora. Moldovans in diaspora are not obliged to pay for health insurance when they return home and cross the border,” the report quotes the country’s authorities as saying. “In addition, Moldovans in the diaspora who do not have residency status (i.e. who are in Moldova for less than 183 days in one year) are NOT required to buy an insurance policy,” the press release published on the Telegram channel Prima Sursă said. It should be recalled that this year the cost of the health insurance is 12,636 lei and it can be purchased by citizens who insure themselves individually. The insurance holders receive a number of free medical services, including emergency and primary care, compensated medicines, admission to hospital, surgical operations. Persons (residents only) who are not employed and not insured by the state are obliged to pay the insurance premium individually for the first three months of the year, and discounts are available for them. Employed persons will still pay 9% of their salary for compulsory health insurance.
