Dutchman Mark Rutte officially confirmed as NATO Secretary General Acting Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte was officially confirmed as NATO Secretary General. Ambassadors from all 32 countries of the Alliance supported the Dutchman’s candidacy at a meeting in Brussels. The post is to be officially confirmed at the organization’s summit in July. Rutte will replace the current Secretary General, Norwegian Jens Stoltenberg. The term of office of the head of the North Atlantic Alliance is 5 years.
