In the morning of 25 July, Capital’s Mayor Ion Ceban posted a video message in which he criticized the municipal councilors who the previous day had not voted for the budget proposed by the mayor’s office.
The mayor claims that the opposition in the Municipal Council is trying to sabotage the efforts of local authorities and is ‘afraid’ of new projects that will develop the capital and put local authorities in other localities at a disadvantage, omniapres.md reports.
Ion Ceban also spoke about the presidential elections. Although a few months ago he publicly stated that he did not intend to run for the presidential post, the Chisinau mayor said that he reserved the right to think about his actions in autumn.
‘In my opinion, it has something to do with the fact that they think I can still agree to enter the presidential race, as many people ask me to do. And I want you to know that the blocking is not because they have arguments, but because they want the Chisinau municipality, like other localities they are responsible for, not to develop.
If you continue like this, I reserve the right to think about what I will do this autumn,’ Ion Ceban added.
