The flash mob gathered about a dozen supporters of Nastase under the slogans ‘PAS = bankruptcy’, ‘Pocket Prosecutor’s Office’, etc. Andrei Nastase said that “the prosecutor’s office is controlled by the current government” and “high-level corruption is covered by the country’s president”. The politician said that the state debt has almost doubled since 2019, “to 113bn lei”; “prices have reached an unbelievable level”; “Moldova pays the highest price for gas supplies in South-Eastern Europe” - and all this is due to corruption and incompetence of the authorities, infotag.md reported. “We have come here to demand that the Prosecutor General (Ion Munteanu) open extraordinary cases against those who put huge debts on today’s and future generations. We demand to investigate where the billions of aids from Europe went - billions that did not reach Moldovans, but were converted by the authorities into their own political PR...,” Nastase said. He promised that if he became president, he would conduct a “people’s audit” - to check “for the criminal component of all decisions that led to the growth of debts of the country and citizens”.
