In his comments on social networks, he also touched upon the topic of selling agricultural land to foreigners after Moldova’s possible accession to the European Union. Slusari said that the agricultural sector is not a priority for the current government, newtv.md reported. “It is obvious to me that the agro-industrial sector, despite the 2020-2021 election promises, is not a priority for the government. Not a single euro has been received from European funds to support farmers in 3 years. There is no strategy for adapting agriculture to climate change. The government is always late with support measures, which are also meagre. At the same time, the process of liquidation of small and medium-sized farmers in rural areas and consolidation of large transnational companies, which are not interested both in saving our villages and also in introducing a transitional period to restrict the sale of agricultural land to foreigners, is under way in Moldova at the behest of authorities and at an accelerated pace,” Slusari wrote in social networks. The former MP said that without a fundamental change in the strategy for the development of the agro-industrial sector and prioritization of this industry within the framework of EU accession, “we risk seeing very soon the sale of our agricultural land to foreigners under the leadership of several transnational companies in collusion with some state officials”.
