Lawyers of the capital mayor’s office will file an application for criminal prosecution against those responsible for the rise in natural gas prices. This was stated by Ion Ceban. The Chisinau mayor said that the increase in natural gas prices will affect all Moldovan citizens, especially ordinary people, and will cause negative consequences for public institutions and the economy in general, noi.md reports. “The price increase has been known for a long time, but the authorities decided not to raise the gas price during the election campaign. This increase will affect everyone, and household consumers will suffer first of all. Compensations for energy resources, which will be provided by state bodies, will not cover all the expenses of the population,” Ceban said during the meeting of municipal services. He added that the economic agents that produce and export Moldovan products abroad will suffer under the gas price hike and will probably not be able to cope with the difficulties without the government’s intervention. Ceban said that the rise in gas prices will be followed by an increase in electricity prices and inflation, which, in turn, will cause a chain increase in prices for other goods and services. “It can’t go on like this. The PAS government must resign, snap elections must be announced. These experiments and bullying of people and businesses cannot be tolerated,” the capital’s mayor emphasized.
