Russian intelligence claims that the PAS party has received instructions to facilitate the creation of a new pro-European party in the country – “For European Moldova”, to be headed by former Foreign Minister Nicu Popescu. The Foreign Intelligence Service (FIS) said that the European Union had also instructed PAS to dismiss the leadership of Gagauzia and to initiate criminal proceedings against opposition leaders. According to the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service, “the EU increasingly views Moldova as its vassal. The destructive impact of the European Union on Moldova has already led to a catastrophic polarization of society, a time bomb has been laid under the foundation of the Moldovan state”, omniapres.md reported. According to the FIS, the EU ambassador in Chisinau, Janis Mazeiks, allegedly instructed the ruling Party of Action and Solidarity to prosecute opposition leaders, to dismiss the Gagauz bashkan, Evghenia Gutul, and to initiate criminal proceedings against key members of her team. In addition, Russian intelligence claims that PAS received instructions to facilitate the creation of a new pro-European party in the country – “For European Moldova”, to be headed by former Foreign Minister Nicu Popescu. Representatives of the Moldovan authorities have not yet commented on these statements.
