The Council for the Promotion of Investment Projects of National Importance decided to revoke the authorization documents of Avia Invest, the former administrator of the Chisinau International Airport. At the Council meeting, documents and information related to Avia Invest’s activities were presented. After evaluating the data, the decision was taken to refuse to pre-approve investments important for the security of the state and to revoke permits for activities in such areas as energy, transport, water supply and sewage, aerospace, defense and elections, deschide.md reports. In 2013, Avia Invest, a company affiliated with Ilan Sor, received the Chisinau airport in concession for 49 years. In 2019, a parliamentary commission investigated the airport concession and found it illegal. Moreover, the authorities accused Avia Invest of failing to invest the promised funds in the development of the airport and started the procedure for the cancellation of the concession. Four years later, in 2023, Chisinau International Airport returned to state control.
