Municipal councilor from Our Party, Denis Sova, urged all councilors on social media to “return to the legal framework”. “If the Municipal Council does not make any decisions by June 19, it may be dissolved under the law. All the prerequisites for this are already in place,” Sova said, according to infotag.md. He wrote that the agenda of the Municipal Council includes not only the 2025 budget, which has yet to be approved – leaving Chisinau operating under the financial parameters of the 2024 budget – but also more than 400 issues that have passed through specialized committees and are awaiting approval. “Chisinau had cases when the budget was adopted in the summer. A similar situation, by the way, is observed in Moldova’s second-largest city, Balti. It is possible to operate under the previous year’s budget. But there are issues that cannot be postponed: land matters, financial issues, routine write-offs of fixed assets. Failing to approve these matters is a slow collapse, a ticking time bomb, and it will come back to haunt us,” the councilor wrote. Denis Sova believes that PAS, lacking real achievements at either the national or local level ahead of the parliamentary elections, prefers to stage political shows for “likes and memes on social media” instead of taking real initiatives to convene Municipal Council meetings.
