Hungary’s new Foreign Minister, Anita Orban, has stated that her country will no longer use its veto over EU policies as a tool for blackmail and will strive to restore the trust of its partners. She made this statement ahead of the start of the EU Foreign Affairs Council meeting on 11 May, according to “European Pravda”. Orban emphasized that Hungary “has too often been an obstacle to the decision-making process in Europe”. “We used the veto not as a last resort, but for political PR,” she said. As is known, on Saturday, 9 May, Peter Magyar officially took office as Prime Minister of Hungary. Prior to this, at the inaugural session of parliament, the Speaker of the legislature was elected; one of the Speaker’s first decisions was to return the EU flag to the building.
