The Pro-Moldova positioning of Moldova’s Democratic Party (PDM) does not mean giving up the European integration, said Deputy Speaker of the Parliament Valeriu Ghiletchi in an interview given exclusively to Moldpres. Ghiletchi noted that PDM’s Pro-Moldova positioning would “clarify its position before the electoral campaign within the parliamentary elections”. “This is an attempt to win more left-wing voters, especially as PDM is a centre-left formation”, Ghiletchi said. The deputy speaker also stressed that “PDM did not make any statements on a possible giving up of the country’s European integration”. “The parliament’s agenda includes the initiative on amending the Constitution regarding the introduction of the vector of the country’s European integration. If PDM backs this change of the Constitution and votes the concerned draft law, this will prove that the Pro-Moldova positioning does not rule out the country’s European integration vector,” Valeriu Ghiletchi said. In mid-September, PDM leader Vlad Plahotniuc said that the party would undergo more changes concerning the way it is working and would define itself as a Pro-Moldova party. This means “a party working for all Moldovans, with an agenda having people’s problems as principal points.” Source: Moldpres
