Drivers of passenger transport will be able to stay on the territory of Ukraine for more than 90 days within six months. On October 5, Moldova and Ukraine signed this document following the meeting of the government delegations of the two countries held in Chisinau. They also discussed issues of ecology, border demarcation and recreation of Ukrainian children from Donbas in Moldovan camps. Following the meeting, Moldovan Prime Minister Pavel Filip explained that the protocol signed today to the Moldovan-Ukrainian agreements on international road transport and railway transport solves the problem of transport companies whose drivers and personnel have to stay in Ukraine for more than 90 days during 180 days per year (this restriction is enshrined in Ukrainian migration legislation). We are talking about drivers of motor vehicles who carry out international freight and passenger traffic, motormen, train host, etc. Summing up the meeting of the government delegations of the two countries, Filip called the relations between Moldova and Ukraine “excellent”. He also reported on “significant progress” in the discussion of the environmental situation related to the Dniester. In addition, he recalled that to solve this problem, the Moldovan-Ukrainian Commission on Sustainable Use and Protection of the Dniester Basin was created earlier to deal with these issues. Government delegations, as Filip said, also discussed issues of border demarcation, mutual recognition of property rights, Transdniestrian settlement, and even the recreation of Ukrainian children affected by the conflict in Donbas in Moldovan camps in Vadul lui Voda and Sergeevka. Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman, in his turn, recalled that during his first meeting with Filip a roadmap was drawn up, which is now being implemented. Separately, Groysman focused on the Dniester hydropower station. “We are as one. This is a common issue we can solve only together”, said the Ukrainian Prime Minister and added that this issue should be solved, bearing in mind future generations. Groysman departed from a question about the possible termination of the railway communication between Ukraine and Russia and the losses in this connection for Moldova, but at the same time he assured that Ukraine will never do anything that “can harm” Moldova.
