President Igor Dodon does not rule out that he will take part in early elections if they take place. According to the head of state, it is likely that early parliamentary elections will be held in September-October in autumn. According to him, the probability of early elections has increased and is 70% “If the ACUM bloc does not develop its sense of self-defense and does not contact the PSRM, they will not accept the proposal of the socialists, then there will be early parliamentary elections”, the head of state said on RTR Moldova. The head of state said that if the current Parliament did not elect the Speaker by June 21 it would mean that it would not adopt any law, he would apply to the constitutional court for the dissolution of the Parliament. The President says that in mid-July he can sign a decree on the dissolution of the Parliament and the appointment of the date of early elections. “Given the 60-day duration of the election campaign, the campaign could theoretically start on August 1 and end on September 30. Or it can start on September 1 and last until November 1”, the head of state noted. In his opinion, in case of early elections, it is unknown what will remain of the ACUM bloc. But socialists, Igor Dodon believes, will receive more deputy mandates if early parliamentary elections take place. As for the local elections, the President said that there are big risks that they will not take place this year, because the appointment of the election date is within the competence of the Parliament. At the same time, Igor Dodon does not exclude the option where the constitutional court will interpret the Constitution and provide this duty to the Government or the head of state. IPN
