The Foreign Minister said that Ukraine is ready to assist Moldova in solving the existing problems. Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin on his Facebook page said that the situation in Moldova was a possible threat to the south of Ukraine. The Minister noted that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine closely monitored the situation in Moldova. “Tomorrow in Chisinau will be Viktor Kryzhanovsky, who is in charge of coordinating the efforts on the Transnistrian settlement and is very well-versed in the Moldovan context. We are concerned that today the probability and the corresponding risks of “good services” from external players are constantly increasing... We all really need a European democratic Moldova but not the prospect of a new Russian bridgehead, which will pose a threat to the south of Ukraine, what is not suitable at all”, he stressed. The Foreign Ministry assured that they were ready to contribute to solving the existing problems in Moldova. “As a state mediator and guarantor, Ukraine is interested in a stable, democratic and European Moldova, ready to provide assistance in solving the existing problems, if necessary. We call on the leading political forces of Moldova to act within the legal framework, to resolve disputes through political dialogue in order to avoid violent confrontation”, the statement of the Ministry says. The Ministry also stressed that Moldova remained an important partner for Ukraine. “It is important for the country and the security of the situation in the region to prevent external interference aimed at the implementation of the Russian scenario of federalization of the country. The Republic of Moldova remains an important partner and neighbor for Ukraine, whom we share common interests with and a common European future”, the statement reads. Korrespondent
