Vladimir Putin compared the situation in Moldova with Ukraine and said that the power in Chisinau was usurped by oligarchs Russian President Vladimir Putin to Mir Interstate Television and Radio Company promised support to his Moldovan counterpart Igor Dodon. “We will certainly support both President Dodon and his current coalition partners so that they eventually get rid of those people, to put it politely, who have usurped power in Moldova”, – said Putin. According to the President, the situation in Moldova is not unique, and the power in the country, as partly in Ukraine, was usurped by oligarchs who brought all government agencies to heel. “That is, they made their fortunes at the expense of the Moldovan people and used them to improve their personal welfare and to put pressure on the state”, Putin added. The Russian President believes that all that President Dodon and his recent opponents have done, after all, was actually a step towards building a full-fledged, civilised, modern state. President Igor Dodon’s Socialist Party and the Pro-European ACUM bloc reached an agreement on a coalition and formed a new government on June 8, a day later than the statutory deadline. The Constitutional court found this decision illegal and demanded that Dodon dissolve Parliament, but the President refused. As a result, the Constitutional court appointed acting head of state Pavel Filip, first Vice-Chairman of the Democratic Party of Moldova. The Ministers of the old Cabinet refused to resign and two governments developed in the country. RBC
