The party of socialists and the ACUM bloc must conclude a cooperation agreement so that this coalition will last until the end of the mandates of the current MPs, Said President Igor Dodon in an interview for cotidianul.md. “Of course, I want this coalition to last all four years. For the first time in the history of Moldova, those who think in Romanian and those who think in Moldovan or Russian have a common position. It would be a huge mistake to start fighting for some of the ambitions and contradictions”, – said Igor Dodon. To avoid disagreements, according to the President, he proposed to the PSRM and ACUM to make a list of bills that need to be supported by the coalition partners. “We need our partners to vote for the party's program's bills we cannot give up,” explained Dodon. According to the head of state, he has already proposed a draft of such an agreement to Prime Minister Maia Sandu and Parliament speaker Zinaida Greceanîi and expects that both sides will sign it by the end of July. “I will insist on it. We will also agree not to form a coalition with other parties and not to accept party-switchers,” Dodon added. The President also believes that the PSRM and the ACUM bloc need to sign a contract before the local elections. He noted that both the socialists and the bloc will have their candidates for the post of mayor of Chisinau. “We agree that the one who wins the election will offer the loser the position of Vice-mayor. Aslo to creat a coalition in the municipal council between the socialists and the ACUM”, Dodon said, adding that the same should be in the regions – “the winning party, for example, will offer the loser one the post of the mayor of the region.” The President also noted that the PSRM-ACUM coalition has achieved a lot in a short time. “We have achieved a lot – many corruption schemes have been stopped, corrupt heads of state structures have left. As for privatization, there is a high probability that the airport will return to the ownership of the state,” said Dodon, adding that there is a lot to be done. “We must replace corrupt officials in leadership positions with competent persons,” he stressed.
