Moldovan authorities are interested in reaching a qualitatively new level of relations with Russia, said Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova Vasilii Șova. “There is a positive mood of the government, parliament and the president to move forward, cooperate and get to a whole new level of relations between Moldova and Russia in all directions,” said Șova, ria.ru reports. According to him, things were not going smoothly in relations between the countries, including due to “not very well-thought-out political expressions,” which then influenced the economic climate. “It seems to me that the most important thing when trying to find solutions in the economic field is not to introduce political shades and not be guided by past statements and mistakes. This will not improve relations between the parties,” the Deputy Prime Minister added. Relations between Moscow and Chisinau worsened in the summer of 2015, when the Moldovan parliament ratified the EU association agreement, signed by the government in Brussels. Since 2017, a ban on travel of members of parliament and government to the Russian Federation has been introduced in Moldova. This year the ban was lifted, Chisinau and Moscow also agreed to resume the work of the Moldovan-Russian intergovernmental commission, which had not been holding meetings since 2016. Point
