On the eve of next round of negotiations in the 5+2 format in Bratislava Prime Minister Maia Sandu commenting on the possibility of signing between Moldova and Transnistria a document implying “the creation of two separate legal units as part of a single state” said that “Moldova and its official representatives will not sign any documents and obligations that contradict the national interests of the Republic of Moldova,” infotag.md reports Sandu noted that she had repeatedly discussed the Transnistrian settlement with the Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Vasily Sova and European officials. “A political decision is possible only with the observance of the territorial integrity of Moldova. Unfortunately, now there are no internal and external conditions for an immediate solution. All we can do is fight corruption schemes, smuggling through the Transnistrian region. I hope that in the near future we will sign protocols with Ukraine in order to increase the number of joint control points at the border,” she emphasized. Sandu noted that she had repeatedly discussed with the Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Vasily Shova the topic of the Transnistrian settlement, as well as with European officials. “Political solution is possible only with the territorial integrity of Moldova. Unfortunately, there are no internal and external conditions for an immediate solution for the moment. All we can do is to fight corruption schemes, smuggling through the Transnistrian region. I hope that in the near future we will sign protocols with Ukraine in order to increase the number of joint control points at the border,” she emphasized. The Prime Minister said that she was opposed the federalization of Moldova. “This is impossible without the support of the parliamentary majority we do not have not on this issue. This is not possible since most citizens oppose federalization,” said Sandu. This year, 5+2 negotiations have been frozen due to parliamentary elections, the political crisis and a change of power. The first round of negotiations this year will be held in Slovakia on October 9-10, which is chairing the OSCE. Point
