The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Vadym Prystaiko said Ukraine is considering the idea of granting the right of dual citizenship. The present Constitution prohibits Ukrainians from having citizenship of another country. Previously President Volodymyr Zelensky instructed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine to develop a mechanism for granting Ukrainian citizenship to representatives of the Ukrainian diaspora abroad, ria.ru reports. “There are some ideas to consider. Some of them are sometimes complex, sometimes interesting, for example, dual citizenship in bilateral relations with the country,” he said in an interview with tsn.ua. He noted that a broader involvement of Ukrainians living abroad is possible. “For example, we will take into account the passport we are issuing now, the passport of a foreign Ukrainian (a person who is of Ukrainian origin, but the citizenship of another state),” the minister said.
