Moldovan President Igor Dodon is sure that the government of Maia Sandu will fall with a 90% probability. “The Sandu government has taken a position, turned out to be in the corner and is taking the wrong steps. I give 90% that the Sandu government will fall,” said Dodon. He also added that he and the Party of Socialists (PSRM) would insist on the cancellation of the government’s initiative to take responsibility for amendments to the law “On the Prosecutor’s Office.” “We want to return to normal as of yesterday morning. If you do not like the contest, let us do another one. Before changing the law, let us discuss first. We are partners, aren’t we?” the president said, adding that the PSRM has prepared a draft vote of nonconcurrence on the government. After the fall of the government, according to Dodon, two scenarios are possible. The first one is that the socialists once again sit at the negotiating table with the ACUM bloc. “Let's see if we can connect and understand each other. Let there be another candidate from the ACUM bloc, let there be a government of socialists, ACUM bloc has been leading the government for five months and we can the results. Let the socialists lead for five to six months with the same parliamentary majority. We need to move forward to avoid early elections,” he said. At the same time, Dodon noted that there could be no coalitions with anyone but the ACUM bloc. He ruled out the possibility of a coalition with other factions and noted that he would not accept the prime minister if he was nominated by ACUM and the Democrats. The second scenario, according to Dodon, is an early election to be held along with the presidential election in autumn 2020. Newsmaker
