President Igor Dodon said that the Parliament is already negotiating the Chicu government resignation, and currently 33 deputies are ready to back up a no-confidence vote against the Cabinet. Dodon does not believe that the Chicu government will fall, because ACUM bloc was not able to win enough PDM members to its side, noi.md reports. “ACUM block.. does it still exist, is it dead or alive? I don’t know. It is their business, but in total there are, let’s say, 26 of them... Add 7 more from Shor, because now they are together, by the way ... I know what I’m talking about (that they are together – editor’s note). Add 7 from Shor – and it turns 33 ... I'm not going to open the brackets, because it's early. But they (ACUM and the Shor Party) now have a common interest. So, it is about 33 deputies. They still need 18 out of 30 from PDM. I don’t know, we’ll see,” Dodon said in an interview to Radio Free Europe. The President further noted that most MPs from PDM are not interested in supporting a no-confidence vote, because this will lead to early elections. “They don’t stand with the socialists or ACUM. As I understand it, PDM deputies would like to support the government, which comes with several social programs, including those that they promoted in the government. After all, many initiatives were proposed by them. On the other hand, I think that they are not interested in early elections until they have completely reformed. That's why I think the Democratic Party needs time,” Dodon stated. He admitted that he had recently met with the PDM faction and made sure that Vladimir Plahotniuc’s influence on the party "sharply decreased." So there will be no more than four MPs from PDM who could vote for the Chicu government resignation, Dodon said, but refused to name them. “Maybe two, three, or four people, but most of them understand very well that they must reform the party. They are determined to alter the situation. Therefore we will see what they will decide - to further support the Chicu government or go to early elections. One thing I can say for sure: in this convocation there will be no other but the Chicu government,” Igor Dodon emphasized.
