Raul Khajimba rejected the proposal to voluntarily resign from the post of head of "republic" and invited the opposition to the negotiating table. At the extraordinary session the Abkhazian Parliament adopted an appeal to Raul Khajimba calling for his resignation from the post of president of the "republic" to stabilize the situation. Interfax reported on January 9. It is noted that 19 deputies voted “pro” this decree, four voted “con” and one deputy abstained. Khajimba rejected the parliament’s appeal for voluntary resignation and considers it necessary to discuss all issues at the negotiating table. The president’s press service emphasized that the parliament’s decision “could lead to irreversible consequences for the country.” Recall that on Thursday in Sukhumi began an anti-government opposition protest demanding new presidential election of the "republic". Protesters tried to storm the administration building and blocked the institution in the evening. The administration of Khajimba called the disturbance an attempted coup.
