In total, Belarus purchased oil in a test mode 86,000 tons of Johan Sverdrup grade North Sea in Norway. This variety is already called in the world a competitor to the Russian Urals. The first batch of oil from Norway arrived at the Belarusian railway station Novopolotsk on Sunday, January 26, for a further processing to the Naftan plant. We are talking about 59 tanks, which contain approximately 3.5 thousand tons of oil, BelTA reported. In total, Belarus purchased in a test mode 86,000 tons of North Sea Johan Sverdrup oil in Norway, which is expected to be fully delivered to the refinery within two weeks. This variety has been mined on the Norwegian continental shelf on an industrial scale since the fourth quarter of 2019. "The quality of this oil is quite interesting. This grade is already called in the world a competitor to the Russian Urals," Alexander Demidov, general director of Naftan, told reporters. On January 1, Russia stopped oil supplies to Belarus due to the fact that no price agreements were reached. In December, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko instructed to find an alternative to the Russian oil. According to the head of state, negotiations, except for Norway, are conducted with the UAE, Saudi Arabia and the USA, which are ready to supply raw materials of better quality than Russian and at a "world price".
