The Romanian government will be formed by Florin Citu, who now holds the post of Minister of Finance. Citu was nominated by the country's president as prime minister. Romanian President Klaus Iohannis on Wednesday, February 26, nominated Florin Citu, who now holds the post of the Finance Minister, to the post of Prime Minister of the country. Florin Citu is going to negotiate with parliamentary partners to form a majority, as well as submit to the parliament a list of members of the new government. He called his appointment the course of the National Liberal Party (NLP) towards liberation of Romania from the Social Democratic Party (SDP). In early February, the Ludovic Orban government from NLP was dismissed following a vote of no confidence which was declared by the parliament on the PSD initiative. Iohannis then tasked Orban to form a government. The Constitutional Court, however, found that it was a legal conflict and that the president should nominate a new candidate for the prime minister post. As a result, Orban resigned, and Iohannis consulted with the parties about a new candidate for the post of prime minister.
