At the end of March, the World Health Organization (WHO) presented to the Moldovan government two scenarios for the development of the situation with coronavirus in Moldova: pessimistic (like in Italy) and optimistic (like in Albania). On April 12, the signs for an optimistic scenario emerged in Moldova, which means that by the end of April there will be about 3 thousand infected people in the country. This was announced on April 13 by Prime Minister Ion Chicu. “The first scenario meant about 2 thousand infected by April 9. This figure was based on the growth model of infected people over the past six days, up to 27% (this average has been in Italy since the first detected case). This scenario meant that by the end of April we would have 28 thousand infected. The Albanian scenario was based on an average of 11% growth over the past six days and provided that by the end of April we would have 3 thousand infected,” Chicu said, posting graphs of both scenarios. He noted that the government complied with all WHO recommendations from the very beginning so as not to follow the Italian path of coronavirus spread. And this, according to Chicu, took effect. “Dear friends! Yesterday, we registered less than 10% of infected people on average over the past six days. This is a downtrend, and 27% were not reached. That is, we did not reach the Italian scenario, which began on March 23. Today we are following an optimistic scenario,” Chicu said. The Prime Minister explained that this was made possible thanks to the measures and efforts of Moldovan citizens. Chicu expressed appreciation to all who showed patience and understanding. “I am proud that I am part of a wise and disciplined people,” said Chicu, asking for more patience and staying at home, following all the recommendations prescribed by the authorities. Recall that in Moldova from the beginning of the epidemic, 1662 cases of coronavirus infection were confirmed. 32 people died from complications caused by the virus, 94 patients recovered.
