Diacov: Filip, along with Dodon and Sandu, Can Be a Significant Electoral Competitor

The Honorary Chairman of the Democratic Party, Dumitru Diacov, believes that the Chicu government will not leave before the autumn presidential election. However, the democrat does not rule out that changes may occur after the election. At the same time, Dumitru Diacov said that, most likely, PDM will have its own candidate for president. “I think that Pavel Filip, along with Igor Dodon and Maia Sandu, can be a fairly convincing electoral competitor. I mean, these are people with certain experience, they are opinion leaders and can run for office. We raised this issue at the political council, and we had an exchange of views, but no final decision was made. Colleagues said the party should have a candidate. We believe that a party like PDM, of course, should nominate its candidate,” Dumitru Diacov said. At the same time, the politician did not say whether the PDM would support Igor Dodon in the autumn presidential election. “Depending on how the situation develops, Dodon may win in the first round,” Dumitru Diacov said.
