Prime Minister Ion Chicu said that despite the decision made by the Commission on Emergency Situations in Healthcare, most restrictions can be lifted from June 1. However, until then, according to Chicu, everyone must comply with the National Commission decisions, including the Balti mayor Renato Usatii. Chicu said this on May 18, after a weekly joint meeting with the president and prime minister. According to Chicu, the government, together with health professionals, will monitor the development of the coronavirus situation in the country and, if possible, restrictions will be removed earlier than June 30. “In many countries of Europe, lockdown was removed, including due to the worsening economic situation. We are also examining this situation. With a high degree of probability, from June 1, our country will also remove most restrictions. But until then, we must be very cautious and abide by the rules. This also applies to the markets in Chisinau and Balti,” Chicu said. Chicu recalled that last week the National Commission for Emergency Situations in Healthcare left some restrictions in effect, as the epidemic did not end. “These decisions are binding on all mayors, including the mayor of Balti. They must abide by them. Otherwise, state authorities will ensure compliance with the law,” Chicu said. Chicu noted that the government is monitoring the situation with coronavirus in neighboring countries. In particular, according to Chicu, the spread of coronavirus in the Romanian county of Moldova, where mortality is twice the number of deaths in Moldova, is of particular concern. Chicu also thanked the Romanian medical staff who helped Moldovan doctors treat patients with coronavirus for two weeks. The Prime Minister wished health to those of them who got infected during the humanitarian mission. Recall that, according to the decision of the National Health Emergencies Commission, markets and shopping centers in Chisinau and Balti will resume work on May 31. Other restrictions will be valid until June 30. However, the Balti Municipal Health Emergencies Commission at a meeting on May 16 decided to open markets on May 19 and not to stop public transport on weekends.
