The “Dignity and Truth Platform” party faction proposed creating a commission in parliament that would investigate “facts of corruption and illegal enrichment of President Igor Dodon.” Deputy from DA Alexandru Slusari stated during the May 21 briefing. “This is our reaction to the last video “about the president and the plastic bag “. The deputy noted that today he will offer deputies to support his initiative creating a commission. “I will insist that it be led by a DA representative. Maybe next week we will collect 51 signatures. This is only the first step,” Slusar said, adding that the commission will investigate Dodon’s law violating cases and suspicions of corruption and illegal enrichment. “This commission is to be unique in the history of Moldova, because we did not yet have a president who would be investigated from the point of view of integrity,” Slusar said. Recall that on May 18, Renitsa presented a video at a press conference where former Democratic Party leader Vladimir Plahotniuc and former party vice chairman Sergei Iaralov “hand over a plastic bag to President Igor Dodon.” Renitsa claims that there was a big sum of money in this package. Later, Dodon said that the video, the ex-leader of the Democratic Party Vladimir Plahotniuc allegedly offers him a plastic bag full of money was mounted. After that, the Prosecutor General’s Office said that Renitsa did not apply to the law enforcement authorities and invited the deputy to provide them with that video. Renitsa noted that the second record confirms the authenticity of the first one as this is the same scene of money transfer but filmed from a different angle. DA leader Andrei Nastase, on May 21 said that he had turned to the Prosecutor General’s Office with a request to institute criminal proceedings against Dodon and Plahotniuc.
