On May 26, Romanian MP Constantine Codreanu appealed to the National Citizenship Authority with a request to deprive the Prime Minister of Moldova Ion Chicu of the Romanian passport. Codrean announced on his Facebook page. The deputy said that the Moldovan prime minister should be deprived of Romanian citizenship for "denigrating statements against Romania which outraged society on both banks of the Prut." “Deprivation of citizenship is a natural and obligatory Romanian state step when a person who has received the Romanian passport damages the country’s image and its prestige. It’s impossible to endlessly endure Romanophobia of those who receive Romanian citizenship and enjoy all its advantages,” the deputy added. Recall that earlier the European MP Siegfried Muresan wrote on his Facebook page that the Moldovan government is not coping with the crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic because it has not managed to cope with reforms. At the same time, the MEP noted that the Cabinet of Ministers under Maia Sandu leadership was the best government in Moldova.
