Sandu: The Only Solution to the Current Political Situation Is Dodon’s Resignation

Chairman of the Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS) Maia Sandu believes that the only way out in this situation is the resignation of President Igor Dodon. She noted on social networks that “most of Moldova’s political class smells bad”, but the party she leads “has nothing to do with this political mud,” infotag.md reports. “In this situation, it is very difficult to find a solution that will benefit the country. The PAS has 15 deputy mandates, the ACUM bloc has 26. This is not enough to restore order, as we promised. And the only worthy decision is the president’s voluntary resignation in conditions when he complains and hopes that someone should protect him from Plahotniuc,” the oppositionist believes. According to her, “if resigned, Dodon will open the possibility for early parliamentary elections, as well as for presidential elections, which will clear them.” “The current parliament simply cannot promote good decisions for the country. Therefore, the only constitutional decision is the resignation of the president so that Dodon does not complain how he can get rid of Plahotniuc. Dodon brought this problem back, and he must leave with others,” Sandu said.
