The President of the Republic of Moldova stands for early parliamentary elections if the current parliamentary majority cannot work. Igor Dodon admits forming a new ruling coalition, but without the Shor party and the Pro Moldova group deputies, says ipn.md. “I believe that if the majority coalition loses two or three more deputies and cannot work further, then a majority can be created between the real parties, not Shor or Candu, we’d better hold early elections. Otherwise, we turn into a parliament which was until last February when 30-40 deputies left their parties and factions and joined Plahotniuc. If in the next months we see this practice continue, it is better to dissolve the parliament and proceed to early elections,” Igor Dodon said during the broadcast of “Secretele Puterii” on Jurnal TV. Igor Dodon argues that early parliamentary elections, for economic and political reasons, can be organized simultaneously with the presidential ones. The President believes that the Socialist deputies presented enough arguments to the Constitutional Court to hold two elections simultaneously. “If the Constitutional Court says that the elections can be organized on the same day, I will invite the four parties that I consider to be real, Platform DA, PDS, PDM and PSRM, I will invite them to the President’s Office to see if they agree to come to the formula for dissolving parliament in order to hold presidential and parliamentary elections simultaneously,” the head of state added. If the Constitutional Court declares it unacceptable to hold two elections at the same time, then Igor Dodon stands for holding the presidential election on November 1, and early parliamentary elections afterwards, in accordance with the law. The Socialist Party appealed to the Constitutional Court to find out whether early parliamentary and presidential elections could be held on the same day.
