European Parliament Rapporteur on Moldova Dragos Tudorache criticized President Igor Dodon and Prime Minister Ion Chicu, accusing them of failing to fulfill the obligations taken by the country to get the EU macro-financial assistance. “President Dodon and his prime minister, Mr. Chicu, seem to be ready to do anything but the real thing,” Tudorache wrote on his Facebook page on June 2. Also, the European Parliament deputy expressed dissatisfaction with the foreign policy implemented by the Moldovan authorities. “There is no more destructive way than an attempt to build foreign policy on the principle of “sitting on two chairs.” Or the belief that their populism distracts attention from the simple fact that they do not keep their word,” Tudorache added. The European MP said that together with his colleagues he is trying to support the interests of Moldova in Brussels and has repeatedly asked the European authorities to allocate the third tranche of macro-financial assistance, but all efforts are useless because of the Moldovan leadership. “After all the deadlines for fulfilling the obligations expired, the president and prime minister declare that they do not agree with these projects and do not want parliament to approve them. Worse, they intend to ignore the parliament’s will. Moreover, we learn about the resumed negotiations with Moscow on a loan that was not approved by the Constitutional Court,” he stressed. Igor Dodon and Ion Chicu have not yet responded to the statements of the European MP. Recall that earlier, Prime Minister Ion Chicu and President Dodon criticized the law on non-profit organizations, which must be adopted to meet one of the conditions for providing Moldova with EU macro-financial assistance in the amount of € 30 million. Chicu said that the law cannot be adopted in the current version, as it challenges political activities in Moldova and may lead to interference in its internal affairs. This statement was supported by Dodon, saying that the NGOs law is designed to establish control over the political situation in the country by non-governmental organizations (NGOs) funded from abroad.
