The US Department of Defense has confirmed the allocation of military assistance to Ukraine this year in the amount of $ 250 million, as part of Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI). The provision of half of this amount depended on progress in military reforms implementation, the Pentagon said on Thursday. They noted that the funds were intended for additional training, equipment procurement and consultations in order to allow Ukraine to more effectively counter Russian aggression. According to the Pentagon, Ukraine is called “a critical partner on the front line of strategic competition with Russia”. The text also emphasizes that the United States remains steadfast in its support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders. The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense thanked the American partners for help in strengthening defense capabilities, RBC-Ukraine reports. Kiev stresses that security and defense sector reform and its approximation to NATO standards remains one of the main priorities of the Ukrainian government. Moscow has always vehemently denied accusations of aggression against Ukraine and the escalation of the conflict in the territory of Donbas.
