Prime Minister Ion Chicu is not going to resign if there is no quorum at tomorrow’s parliamentary meeting and the deputies are unable to consider amendments to the budget, for which the government has taken responsibility. On July 8, on TV8, he announced that he would continue to insist on submitting the bill to parliament. Chicu noted that if a quorum again fails at a parliament meeting on July 9, he will continue his attempts to submit a bill to the deputies. The Prime Minister noted that he will attend the meeting scheduled for July 10. If a quorum fails again, then Chicu intends to continue to come to parliament. The prime minister is not going to resign. “It’s not so easy to resign or to stay,” Chicu said. He emphasized that due to the political situation in the country it would be difficult to appoint a new government. On July 1, the Chicu government took responsibility for the draft amendments to the budget and several other laws. They aim at increasing salaries for doctors, subsidies to agricultural producers, etc. To complete the process of taking responsibility, the prime minister must present this draft in parliament. Three attempts thereof failed due to a lack of quorum: the opposition – the Action and Solidarity Party (PAS), the Platform for Dignity and Truth (DA), Shor and Pro Moldova – boycotted the meetings.
