Currently, the Pentagon allocates about $ 250 million annually for military aid to Ukraine. In the United States, a group of Republican and Democratic US senators introduced a bill that would increase military aid to Ukraine by up to $ 300 million, including the provision of lethal weapons. This is reported by Reuters on Friday, July 31. The bill was presented by Democratic Senators Bob Menendez, Chris Murphy and Jeanne Shaheen, along with Republicans James Risch, Rob Portman and John Barrasso. Among other things, the senators are proposing to allocate four million dollars a year to Kyiv to train officers. The bill requires a report by the US Department of Defense and the State Department on the requirements of Ukraine’s Armed Forces and a plan to supply security assistance. The document also proposes to appoint a special envoy for Ukraine as the representative of the United States in the negotiations in the Normandy format and to create a working group on Ukraine with a number of European allies. Earlier, the US authorities approved the sale of up to 16 Mark VI patrol boats to Ukraine, as well as their necessary related equipment for a total of $ 600 million.
