The Pro Moldova party believes that the authorities should create conditions for holding presidential elections on time. Party leader Andrian Candu stated at a press conference on Tuesday. Answering journalists' questions about the possibility to postpone the elections due to the coronavirus pandemic, he noted that "it is possible to postpone the elections amid the pandemic," infotag.md reports. "But the pandemic will not by itself go away, it is necessary for the authorities to work. And the authorities have shown their inability to manage the crisis. We need to change the government, manage the crisis in order to overcome the pandemic and hold elections," Candu said. He recalled that many countries have already held or are preparing to hold elections amid the coronavirus pandemic. "From the political and legal point of view, it is possible postponing elections if the level of coronavirus spread is very high and the state of emergency is declared. But preparations for the elections need to start now in order to change something. Maybe elections should be organized within two- three days. Many countries were able to organize elections so as not to put citizens at risk, " the party leader said. He considers that nothing is being done in Moldova to prepare for the elections. “The President is driving around in shorts, attending churches. Now he has gone to Moscow with an incomprehensible purpose. We got already used to these Moscow visits. We need transparency in everything - where and why he is going, since the costs of these visits are paid from the budget. They do not surprise us. It's a waste of time, he goes, comes back, but nothing changes, " Candu concluded.
