The country's president declared a state of emergency in the capital of Kyrgyzstan, Bishkek, troops are being brought in due to mass protests after parliamentary elections. Such a decree signed the country's President Sooronbai Jeenbekov on October 9, Novaya Gazeta reported. It was decided to introduce military equipment and military formations "to organize checkpoints, suppress armed clashes, ensure the protection of law and order and protect the civilian population." Troops are being sent to Bishkek under the state of emergency that will take effect from 20:00 on October 9 to 08:00 on October 21. A curfew is being imposed and mass events have been banned in Bishkek as well. Some citizens are prohibited from leaving their home or place of temporary residence. On the night of October 6, mass protests began in Kyrgyzstan over the results of the parliamentary elections that representatives of the losing parties did not agree with. During the protests, demonstrators seized the building where the parliament and the presidential administration are located and released as well from prison former high-ranking officials, including the former President of Kyrgyzstan, Almazbek Atambayev. The CEC canceled the election results and the country's government resigned.
