The number of people in the world, infected with coronavirus increased by more than 4 million over the past week and that is the highest figure since the beginning of pandemic. The number of deaths has increased by more than 67,000, the World Health Organization (WHO) informed on Tuesday. According to the WHO, from 16 to 22 November, 4,060,891 new cases of infection and 67,221 deaths were registered in the world. Both figures are higher than the figures for the previous seven days, then 3,977,223 new cases were detected and 59,699 people died. The WHO, however, believes that the data on the increase in the incidence over the past week indicate a "slowdown in the global pace" of pandemic. A downward trend was noted in the European Region and South-East Asia. At the same time, the North and South America have registered an increase in both new cases and deaths over the past seven days. The number of people infected remains relatively small in Africa, but last week it recorded the highest rates of increase in morbidity (15%) and death (30%) among regions. The number of new infections and deaths increased from the previous week (November 9-15) in the Western Pacific and Eastern Mediterranean regions. The European Region has recorded more than 1.7 million cases of infection and more than 32.6 thousand deaths from November 16 to 22. The number of people infected increased by more than 1.6 million in a week in the North and South America, more than 22 thousand people died. In the South-East Asia region, more than 351 thousand people got infected while the number of deaths in seven days exceeded 4.7 thousand. The number of people infected increased by more than 1.1 million in the United States, followed by India (more than 281 thousand new infections), Italy (almost 236 thousand), Brazil (more than 209 thousand), France (more than 171 thousand), Russia (over 163 thousand), Poland (over 152 thousand), Great Britain (over 149 thousand), Germany (over 127 thousand) and Iran (over 91 thousand).
