President-elect Maia Sandu said she would commission the dismantling of the fence around the presidency building shortly after she was sworn in. Removing the fence around the presidency was one of the promises Sandu made during the election campaign, zdg.md reported. On the air of the TV show, Sandu said she could not determine the exact date, but expressed hope this will happen "even on December 25 or 26". During the election campaign, Sandu said that "a lot needs to be changed." "Yes, we will remove the fence. This should be a symbol of bringing the country's leadership closer to the people. The leaders should not hide behind a two-meter fence, because they are afraid of people," Sandu said then. She also promised to analyze the presidential administration expenses. The metal fence was installed around the presidency building in the summer of 2018, for which about 5 million lei was spent. Recall, yesterday the Constitutional Court (CC) approved the results of the presidential elections in Moldova that Maia Sandu won. She will take office after taking the oath. The event is scheduled for December 24th. Thus, Maia Sandu becomes the sixth President of the Republic of Moldova and the first woman holding the highest office in the state.
