Former President of Moldova Igor Dodon in an interview for TASS noted that “the West will present a political bill to Maia Sandu.

“What will it consist of, we will see later. But payment of bills is obligatory, payment of bills will be required. And it seems to me that this is very dangerous for Moldova. Because most likely, the position of the West, mainly the United States, will be to provoke some kind of another conflict to get Russia involved into. We see the first statements, and these are statements about Transdniestria, against the Russian peacekeepers. In early January, the new President of Moldova will visit Kiev. If there is a unified position on how to block Transdniestria, I think this is the political bill that the new President of Moldova will have to pay,” he said, aif.md reported.

Dodon also noted that “we are lucky that the new president does not have his own government, there is no parliamentary majority. And to go to destabilization, even if they want, at this stage will not work, because we have the opportunity to block it. ”

“I clearly understand and realize that this will be very bad for Moldova, this is an attempt to light another fuse around Russia. And this will just be the leading role of the new President of Moldova. For Moldova, for the citizens of Moldova, this is very bad. Maybe for some- then the overseas partners are interested, but I don’t see why the largest European countries – France, Germany, others. So that next to the border blazed another hot spot. This is the most dangerous scenario. It was not that Dodon won or lost. I think there was a tougher geopolitical game, a geopolitical calculation. If we see and follow what is happening around Russia now, we understand that everything for such elections in Moldova was part of a common strategy, “he added.

Igor Dodon stressed that it was the right decision not to take people to the streets after the second round of elections.

“And what would it give? To bring people out into the street and follow the path of destabilization would definitely follow the scenario of these external puppeteers. Because everyone understands that my political opponent in the elections was a pro-American candidate. And we clearly knew what they were preparing. The so-called “Maidan”, destabilization. If we had brought the people out, we would have played according to their scenario, ” he said.
