The wanted former chairman of the Democratic Party, Vladimir Plahotniuc, received Turkish citizenship. This confirmed the Prosecutor General Alexander Stoianoglo on the air of the program "Politics with Natalia Morari" on the TV8 channel,  unimedia.info reported. “We are trying to find ways to bring Plahotniuc to justice. If we complete this case, we do not exclude it will be transferred to Turkey for local authorities’ consideration. I believe he has received the documents in his own name,” Alexander Stoianoglo said. On September 29, Prosecutor General Alexander Stoianoglo sent a request to the competent Turkish authorities to extradite the former PDM leader for prosecution in Moldova. On November 16, 2020, competent Turkey authorities of announced that Vladimir Plahotniuc was no longer on the territory of this country after he left it on October 4. Plahotniuc was put on the wanted list after the prosecutor's office brought charges against him on three cases: "organizing and leading a criminal group", "fraud" and "money laundering on an especially large scale."
