Novak is confident of the success of the Nord Stream 2 project The Russian gas pipeline will be completed and will not stand idle after works are completed, Novak believes. The Nord Stream 2 project is already over 95% complete. This was stated by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak, TASS reports on Sunday, February 14. Novak is confident that the pipeline will be completed despite US actions. "This project is fully consistent with the European legislation. There is simply such a competition on the part of American partners who want to supply their liquefied natural gas to Europe, that is, in fact, these are non-market methods of competition. And if we talk about legislation, the legal side of the issue, this project is absolutely legal, meets all the European legislation requirements, therefore, the countries that participate in it are interested in implementing this project," he added. Also, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation is confident that the pipeline will not be idle after the construction is completed. "I don’t think there are such risks, because, again, our European partners are interested in this," he said. Earlier, Gazprom said that Nord Stream 2 will be completed this year. To date, more than 2,300 km of the 2,460 km of the gas pipeline have been laid. About 120 km are left to be laid in the waters of Denmark and more than 28 km - in the waters of Germany.
