Socialists on the increase in fuel prices: Because of Sandu’s position, the faction of the Party of Socialists (PSRM) announced that next week "will begin the resignation procedure for the members of the National Agency for Energy Regulation (ANRE) responsible for the fuel prices increase." This announced on February 24 the PSRM deputy, Vlad Batrincea. PSRM also blamed President Maia Sandu for the current crisis, including on the fuel market. “This is the fifth price increase in two months. During this time, the prices for gasoline and diesel fuel increased by about 4 lei. We are sure that we are talking about a cartel conspiracy of oil producers, which will noticeably hit all citizens of the country, especially farmers, who will soon need to go out into the fields for agricultural work,” Batrincea said. The socialists also blamed President Maia Sandu for the current situation. “The Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova notes with regret that because of the position of the head of state, our country is entering a deep political and constitutional crisis. The negative effects of this crisis are already being felt in all spheres of life, including repeated increases in fuel prices, which along the chain are causing further price increases, social unrest and protests. (…) There is an opinion in society that importers of oil products are not afraid of the country’s president and allow themselves raising fuel prices twice a week with the tacit consent of the National Energy Regulatory Agency,” the PSRM said. The party believes that it is necessary to change the current ANRE composition, which includes people "appointed under the Plahotniuc regime," who are Sandu's former colleagues in the Liberal Democratic Party. “I would like to inform you that next week the PSRM faction will begin the procedure for dismissing ANRE members responsible for the serious situation that has arisen after repeated increases in fuel prices,” Batrincea wrote. on February 24, some gas stations increased again prices for gasoline, diesel fuel and gas in Moldova. According to the new prices, the cost of Ai-95 category gasoline averages 18.25 lei per liter. Diesel fuel now costs 15.55 lei and a liter of liquefied gas reaches 10 lei 95 bani.
