The Pro Moldova party proposed granting the interim government the right to conclude international financial agreements. Party leader Andrian Candu said that if the government does not extend the agreement with Romania until April, Moldova will lose the 60 million € grant, which the Romanian authorities agreed to provide. On March 9, MPs from Pro Moldova will register amendments to the Law on Government. Candu said at a press conference that due to the limited powers of the current government, Moldova cannot sign a loan agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), as well as extend the agreement on receiving financial assistance from Romania. "The program with the IMF, which was supposed to start this year, provided, among other things, financial assistance in the amount of about $ 500 million. This assistance, like other, cannot be obtained due to the lack of a full government and the irresponsibility of some politicians," Candu said. In this regard, Pro Moldova proposes to grant the interim government the right to sign financial agreements, taking into account that they will then be ratified in parliament. Recall, earlier the Romanian Ambassador to Moldova Daniel Ionita said Moldova might not receive € 60 million of irrevocable financial assistance from Romania. This will happen if the Moldovan government does not sign an additional protocol by April on the extension of the agreement signed in 2010, according to which Romania promised to provide Moldova with € 100 million. It should be noted that at the end of February, the chairman of the PSRM faction, Corneliu Furculita, said on TV that the parliamentary majority, which includes the Party of Socialists (PSRM), the Shor party and other deputies, may endow the current government with expanded powers if President Maia Sandu refuses to appoint a candidate the prime minister they nominated. Furculita noted that more than 70 deputies said they were ready to support this initiative.
