Stoltenberg: NATO Expects Ukraine and Georgia to Become Alliance Members

The head of the North Atlantic bloc announced this in his annual report The North Atlantic Alliance remains committed to an open-door policy, which provides for the possibility of future membership in the military-political bloc of Georgia and Ukraine. This, on Tuesday announced NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, speaking with an annual report at a virtual press conference at the headquarters of the alliance in Brussels. As Stoltenberg assured, the alliance is open to all European democracies that share the values of the alliance and are ready to fulfill the principles of the North Atlantic Treaty. The report emphasizes that the alliance countries back in 2008 at a summit in Bucharest, the capital of Romania, decided to support the possible membership of Georgia and Ukraine in NATO. Stoltenberg also noted with satisfaction that North Macedonia became the 30th member of the alliance in March 2020.
