The European Union has always had a clear position in relations with the Republic of Moldova. This was stated by the head of the EU Delegation to Moldova Peter Michalko on the air of the Nokta Talk program. “We are closely monitoring what is happening. The citizens of Moldova expressed their position in the presidential elections, supported the program of the current president, Ms. Sandu, regarding the fight against corruption, the country's development, and we support these priorities. (…) We see that the current situation has caused some complications. This situation should be resolved by institutions of the Republic of Moldova in such a way that it is beneficial and in the interests of the citizens of Moldova,” Michalko said, nokta.md reports. The EU Ambassador noted that last December the Parliament adopted a number of laws in violation of Moldova's obligations to international partners. “We watched with concern that the people involved in the theft of a billion, were taking part in the formation of the new government and we saw that the new majority in Parliament (PSRM deputies, Shor parties and PDM party-switchers - ed.) in December adopted several laws that went against the reforms and commitments that Moldova took towards international partners, including the European Union. These are several laws and several reasons, these laws were adopted without receiving an advice from the government, violating enactment procedures, this also goes against Moldova's commitments,” the head of the EU mission said.
