The leader of the Party of Socialists, co-chairman of the Bloc of Communists and Socialists, Igor Dodon, said after the counting of votes in the early parliamentary elections that the bloc "is going into opposition."
Dodon said that the bloc accepts this result as an honest result of democracy,
nokta.md reports.
"Congratulations to Maia Sandu, she now has full power: the parliament, the government, and the Constitutional Court. This is a captured state from a different point of view. (…) Citizens have great expectations from the new parliament," Igor Dodon said.
"We stay with you. We are leaving for the opposition. It will be a professional and responsible opposition. We are preparing draft laws in relation to our campaign promises. We are not afraid to be in opposition," said the leader of the Socialists.
He also stated that they had discussed the decision to contest the election results in the morning with the PCRM leader Vladimir Voronin by phone, and the decision could be made tomorrow.
At the same time, according to Igor Dodon, there will be no protests in the near future.
"Now it makes no sense to bring people out. You need to quickly go through all the procedures for approving the result and start working. People are tired of politics, people want to see concrete results. They believed that our opponents could give them this result. I have a different opinion on this. It is good that there is no constitutional majority, otherwise they could have done unity with Romania," Igor Dodon said.
He stated that the Bloc of Communists and Socialists received a "good result" in the elections.
99% of votes were counted in the July 11 parliamentary elections. The Action and Solidarity Party won the majority in parliament, the faction will consist of 63 deputies. The electoral bloc of socialists and communists will receive a faction of 32 deputies. While the SHOR party will be represented by 6 deputies.
