German Ambassador to Chisinau Angela Gunninger believes that Moldova has real chances and potential to attract investments in many strategic sectors. According to the press service of the Ministry of Economy, she said this at a meeting with the new minister, Sergiu Gaibu, infotag.md reports. According to the report, the discussion was mainly focused on the current state and prospects of trade and economic relations between the two countries. The diplomat highly appreciated the cooperation with the team of the Ministry of Economy, which participated in the development of an econometric model designed for the medium-term forecast of the main macroeconomic indicators. Minister Gaibu appreciated the importance of the German government's expertise and thanked for the support provided to Moldova in the process of implementing the reforms. He informed about the priorities of the Ministry of Economy and plans that he intends to implement together with the new government team, including creating jobs, digitalizing the economy, attracting foreign investment and supporting the business environment. 404 enterprises with German capital are functioning in Moldova. Germany ranks eighth in the list of the largest investors in Moldova and is one of the main trading partners. In the first half of the year, Moldovan exports to Germany exceeded $ 134.6 million, an increase of 30% compared to the same period in 2020. Imports from Germany to Moldova increased by 37.4% - to $ 271.9 million.
