The presidents of eight CIS countries will take part in the meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Commonwealth, two more republics - Armenia and Moldova - will be represented by prime ministers.
"The meeting will be opened by the President of Belarus, presiding this year in the CIS. The presidents of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan will speak at the summit. Armenia and Moldova will be represented by the prime ministers of these states," the CIS headquarters in Minsk noted.
The meeting of the Council of Heads of State will be held via videoconference. One of the highlights of the meeting will be the adoption by the heads of delegations of a statement on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Commonwealth of Independent States. Also, the relevant statements of the leaders of the CIS countries will be adopted on the issues of ensuring biological safety and the development of interaction in the field of migration.
Two documents related to security cooperation are also submitted to the meeting. As the CIS Executive Committee clarified, the matter concerns the Treaty on Counteracting the Legalization (Laundering) of Criminally Obtained Incomes, Terrorist Financing and the Financing of the Proliferation of Weapons of Mass Destruction, as well as the decision concerning the head of the CIS Anti-Terrorism Center. Now this post is occupied by Andrei Novikov, his term of office expires on December 31. In addition, it is planned to approve an agreement on the formation of the Council of Presidents of the Supreme (Supreme) Courts and to declare the city of Comrat in Moldova the cultural capital of the Commonwealth in 2023.
The meeting participants will have to decide on the chairmanship of the Commonwealth in 2022. It is envisaged that the Republic of Kazakhstan will chair the CIS next year.
