President Maia Sandu held a press conference after the meeting of the Supreme Security Council due to the situation in Ukraine.
“We have decided that the Government will appeal to the Parliament with a request to declare a state of emergency,” the head of state said.
Maia Sandu said that the Republic of Moldova is ready to receive tens of thousands of people.
It was also decided to activate the patrol work of the Interior Ministry units in order to prevent possible risks.
Recall that on February 21, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree recognizing the independence of the DPR and LPR. On the night of February 24, Putin announced the start of a “special military operation”. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has declared martial law in Ukraine.
